Bio

Dr. Pike has taught at BYU since 1992. He currently serves as the Coordinator for the Ancient Near Eastern Studies major. After receiving his B.S. in Near Eastern Archaeology and Anthropology from Brigham Young University (1978), he went on to earn a Ph.D. in the Hebrew Bible and Ancient Near Eastern Studies from the University of Pennsylvania (1990).

Dr. Pike currently teaches classes in the New Testament, Old Testament, and Ancient Near Eastern Studies. He focuses mainly on the Hebrew Bible and Ancient Near Eastern Studies and researches Ancient Israelite names, religion, and culture. His training in Ancient Hebrew and related ancient Semitic languages are vital to his scholarship.
